DIY Guide: Building an Efficient Organizer

Step 1

First, you’ll want to build a solid base for your new organizer.

To do this, grab two 40” T-Slot Rails, and three 20” T-Slot Rails.

Lay them out on a flat working surface, and then connect them in the shape of a rectangle, using Angle Joints on all the inside corners. One of the 20” rails should be placed in the center, to give your base more strength and stability (as seen above)

Step 2

Now, it’s time assemble your “Organizer Modules!” This might appear to be a tedious step… and well, it probably is. But don’t worry: you’ll be an expert by the time it’s done!

You’ll need all your:

46” T-Slot Rails
8” T-Slot Rails
3” T-Slot Rails
11’ T-Slot Diagonal Braces

To build your first “module” you’ll want to attach eight 3” rails to ends of eight 8” rails at right angles, using Angle Joints. These will form the “tree branches” of your module.

Next, go ahead and attach eight Angle Joints to each side of a 46” T-Slot Rail (four on each side, and spaced in equidistant pairs; as seen in the diagram above).

Then, attach you already assembled “tree branches” to each side of your 46” “rail, using the Angle Joints you’ve already installed.

Then, add your 11” bracers to the bottom of your module, facing down. (note: alternatively, you can wait until Step 4 to add your braces, if that’s easier)

Up next: it’s time to repeat the entire above step two more times!

Whew! Ok. Got all of that done? Great!

Step 3

The exciting part: the “Union of Modules.”

Now, it’s time to stand everything up and tie it all together. First, attach your modules to the center of your base using Angle Joints (and your diagonal braces, if you haven’t).

Then, use four Angle Joints to connect a 38” T-Slot Rail to the top of all three modules.
