How to recognise it
Round face with a U/round ground hole at top and two flat slots below, each angled about 45° to form an inverted V. Usually marked "TT-30R", "30A 125V" and often "Travel Trailer Use Only" or "Recreational Vehicle Use Only".
Often confused with
| Confused with | How to tell them apart |
|---|---|
| NEMA 10-30R / 14-30R (dryer outlets) | Dryer outlets are 125/250 V with an L-shaped or straight vertical slot pattern; TT-30R has two slots angled toward each other in a V below the ground and is 125 V only. A TT-30P will not fit them. |
| NEMA L5-30R | L5-30R has curved twist-lock slots; TT-30R slots are straight. |
| NEMA 14-50R | 14-50R has four contacts (two vertical straight slots, a wider neutral and ground); TT-30R has three. 14-50R has four slots (two straight hots, L-free neutral, ground) and is 50 A 125/250 V; TT-30R has three openings. |
| NEMA 5-30R | 5-30R has one horizontal and one vertical blade slot rather than the symmetric angled V of TT-30R. |
| NEMA L5-30R / 10-30R / 14-30R | TT-30 has two angled flat blade slots forming a chevron above/below a round/U ground at 120 V; L5-30 is twist-lock with curved slots; 10-30/14-30 are 125/250 V dryer outlets with different slot layout (L-shaped neutral or four slots). |

Good to know
TT-30 is 120/125 V only, despite some listings saying 125/250 V. A 240 V supply damages RV equipment. TT-30R can be a wall receptacle or cord connector.
