How it connects
Hooks insert into the rectangular slot holes of the standard track and drop downward under gravity and shelf load to lock in place; often stabilized by a spring-steel friction clip or tap-in cam.
Male and female halves
Male hook lugs on the shelf bracket mating with female rectangular slots on the wall standard.
Usually connects to
- Regular-duty slotted shelving standard female
- Single-slotted wall standard (e.g. KV 80 series standard)
- Everbilt regular-duty double-slot track (female standard)
Common sizes
- Brackets span about 4–20 in, including 9, 11.5, 12, 14, 18.5 and 20 in.
- Hook pitch is described as roughly 22 mm (7/8–1 in) or 1 in (25.4 mm); steel is commonly 14–16 gauge (about 1.5–2 mm). Match the specific series.

How to recognise it
Recognised by stamped downward-facing metal teeth or hooks along the vertical rear flange of a shelf bracket designed to slide into single 1/2 in or 1 in slots on a vertical steel channel.
Often confused with
| Confused with | How to tell them apart |
|---|---|
| Heavy-duty slotted shelving standard hook | Heavy-duty brackets generally use double-slotted patterns with paired parallel hooks, thicker steel gauge, and deeper slot spacing (e.g. 1-1/4 in or 2 in centers) compared to single-slot regular-duty brackets. |
| Everbilt heavy-duty double-slot track hook | Heavy-duty tracks use wider gauge metal, longer bracket depths, and typically 1-1/4 in. or different vertical hook spacing/slot dimensions. |
| ClosetMaid ShelfTrack double-slotted bracket hook | ClosetMaid uses a proprietary track profile and slot spacing that may not securely align with Everbilt regular-duty slot pitch. |
| Single-slot shelf standard hook (e.g., KV 80 series) | Single-slot brackets have only one column of vertical hooks rather than twin parallel hooks side-by-side. |
