How it connects
The bare wire rope end inserts axially into the female bore and is clamped securely by tightening one or more radial hex socket set screws against the cable.
Male and female halves
Female socket port that receives a male cylindrical wire rope end.
Usually connects to
- Matching bare/stainless wire rope or architectural infill, commonly 1/8 in, including Prova PA29 cable
Common sizes
- Cable sizes typically 1/8 in (0.13 in, about 3.2 mm) through 3/16 in (4.8 mm); match the specific architectural-cable socket.

Variations
- PA28a inline cable splice connector (double female sleeve)
- PA27 wall terminal tensioner socket
- inline cable splicer/coupler (dual female socket)
- single vs multiple radial set screws
How to recognise it
A stainless steel cylindrical tube or sleeve port with a 1/8-inch opening and radial threaded holes containing small hex-drive set screws.
Often confused with
| Confused with | How to tell them apart |
|---|---|
| Swaged cable fitting | Swaged fittings require permanent hydraulic or mechanical crimping deformation without set screws, whereas Prova clamps use removable hex set screws. |
| conduit set-screw connector | EMT conduit set-screw connectors clamp onto rigid metal electrical tubing rather than small-diameter wire rope or cable infill. |

Good to know
Used on Prova railing components like the PA28a inline connector (which joins two cut cable runs together using two set screws) and PA27 wall/end terminals.
